G20 PROTESTERS SURROUNDED

I'm not sure how I feel about Protesting. On the one hand I admire those that show up on the streets. For the most part I'm glad to see people are angry at what Governments/Corporations are doing to the planet. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I don't feel the boys and girls at the top have our best interests at heart. Instead of Politicians "working for the people" it does seem more and more like we are being ruled. However, street protests seem to always prove the point that money spent on bigger and better security forces is worth every penny. Why? Because even though the majority of protesters are peaceful there seems to always be a group of thugs with covered faces who like smashing things ... or maybe police in disguise?

The news clips of police cars burning and bank windows smashed must have given Ward Elcock, our security czar, a permanent erection. He's been under a bit of pressure for spending almost 1 BILLION dollars ... let me repeat that ... ONE BILLION DOLLARS. More than any other country hosting a summit so far.  Now he can sleep at night knowing that he had to spend 1 BILLION dollars to keep those dorks wearing black in check.

Now get ready ... I'm going to make you do some critical thinking.

Why did the police cars look like they were left in the street? You mean to tell me that our highly paid soldiers ran from the crowd? What were the protesters carrying ... bazookas?

Why were the protesters constantly being pushed around from place to place? Wasn't that 5.5 million dollar concrete fence enough to keep them out of places they shouldn't be? Are they not allowed to peacefully protest in a public place?

Why were the police hitting with batons and kicking(booting)people who were obviously sitting down and waiting to be arrested? I guess the days of being picked up and carried off are over?

Why was this summit held in one of our more dense Canadian cities?  Shouldn't all of these meetings be held as far away from people and buildings as possible so as to keep the costs down?

Did Toronto get what it was supposed to get out of holding the summit?  How much money was spent in the city and did the eyes of the world get a good look at what this city has to offer?

And last but not least, how can we as a country spend so much freaking money on a meeting when a majority of Canadians have no idea what it's even all about?

I think next year the Bilderberg group should foot the bill ... just sayin :)
